Yeager Airport awarded $14.7 million to replace aging infrastructure and improve passenger experience

Charleston, WV (WOAY) West Virginia International Yeager Airport is getting a major boost for the future of air travel in the Mountain State.

The airport announced it has been awarded nearly 15 million dollars in discretionary grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Airport Terminal program.

The $14.7 million award will help fund CRW NEXT, the airport’s phased terminal modernization project aimed at replacing aging infrastructure and improving the passenger experience.

Planned upgrades include an expanded security checkpoint, improved passenger amenities, and enhanced ADA accessibility features designed to improve traffic flow and support future growth.

Airport director and CEO Dominique Ranieri says the investment marks another major step forward for the airport and the region.

The funding is part of a nationwide $970 million investment supporting 133 airport projects across 45 states focused on modernizing infrastructure and improving passenger travel experiences.

Officials also say the airport’s broader terminal investment program is expected to total between $65 and 75 million.
