Wyoming Sheriff’s Department receives funding for canines

PINEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department has received funding to purchase a couple of canines. In order to put the canines in the field, the officers and dogs need to be trained and develop a relationship.

“The Wyoming County Board of Education gave us some money for a purchase of a canine unit,” said Chief Deputy Bradley Ellison. “And we’ve received some other money from other places, and we’re still looking for more. We’d like to obtain two canines for the department.”

The plan to train the dogs and officers will begin once full funding has been obtained.
