Wyoming East’s ‘Adopt a Senior’ Facebook page seeing an outpouring of support from community

NEW RICHMOND, WV (WOAY) – If you have not “adopted” a senior at Wyoming East High School or if you are a senior and you are not on the Facebook page, the organizers are encouraging you to join.

So far, there are more than 700 members on the page and it is close to having representation from the full senior class.

How it works is a senior will put themselves out there in the page and then a community member can adopt them. From there, the community member will reach out to find out more about their interests and then send them cards and gifts.

“What it does is it just shows them we’re behind them, we’re supporting them, because their senior year got cut so short and that you know, show them love and support with gifts and cards and just whatever you want to send them,” Donna England, one organizer and senior parent, said.

The Facebook page is called Wyoming East Adopt a Senior 2020 and they even are taking donations from local businesses to do senior giveaways. You do not have to be from the county or even the state to adopt a senior.
