Wyoming County man arrested following high speed chase

Wyoming County, WV (WOAY) – A Wyoming County man is facing multiple charges following a high-speed chase.

According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, on Friday, April 4, 2025, deputies attempted a traffic stop in Ikes Fork Area of Wyoming County.

During the pursuit the suspect exited the moving vehicle and ran from deputies. The vehicle continued to move in reverse and struck the patrol vehicle driven by Deputy Matthew Perry. Deputies believe the suspect attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon to avoid being captured and to injure Deputy Matthew Perry, Sgt. Logan Cook and K9 Cain.

Following a brief foot pursuit deputies arrested Joe Roger Lane and charged him with Fleeing with Reckless Indifference, Second Offense Driving Revoked for DUI, Fleeing on Foot, two counts of Obstructing an Officer and three counts of Battery on an Officer.
