FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – The WVU Fayette County Extension Service is trying new ways to keep the community healthy.
Starting this weekend, the extension service will be periodically setting up at the Fayette County Farmers Market with a new monthly exercise event. This week they gave out free pedometers to encourage the community to stay active. According to Nicole Mitchell with the extension service, the initiative has seen a good amount of participants so far.
“We’ve had about 20 people so far sign up, which for a town this size is not too bad. And this is the first weekend we’ve been out. So hopefully we’ll see that over the next couple of weeks as well and get a decent group going.”
Next month the extension service is planning a different initiative to encourage the community to drink more water.
