West Virginia (WOAY) West Virginia’s DMV modernization project is being restructured after state transportation officials determined the current proposal would be too costly for taxpayers.
Transportation Secretary Stephen Todd Rumbaugh says the original bidding process moved forward without adequate executive leadership input.
Rumbaugh says the West Virginia Department of Transportation will now focus on the most critical initial phases of the multi-year project and redo the procurement process.
He says the goal is to improve the DMV experience for West Virginians while making sure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
