WV House of Delegates Republican Majority has unveiled some of its priorities for the upcoming legislative session

Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia House of Delegates Republican Majority has unveiled some of its priorities for the upcoming West Virginia legislative session.

Speaker Roger Hanshaw says the session will focus on jobs, education, and the economy.

The legislative session is slated to begin on January 14.

Hanshaw expects bills to bolster workforce-ready education programs, exempt construction materials from state sales tax, and take other measures to make the state more attractive to businesses. Hanshaw reported that job growth was a major issue for voters, based on feedback from republican delegates.

In a press release, Hanshaw said, “These may not be the most provocative bills, but they are issues our members hear about when they’re at the gas station and the grocery store. Things like expanding what we define as ‘recovered feedstock’ and ‘solid waste’ would recognize advanced technology for recycling and allow for more manufacturing, and that’s a proposal for more jobs, plain and simple.”
