Beckley,WV (WOAY)- Big news for Southern West Virginia!
An innovative workforce training program is on the way, and community input is needed now.
The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority and the WV Hive are developing PATTERN, which stands for Planning and Accelerating Textile Technology and Entrepreneurship Regional Network.
It’s an industrial sewing training program launching in Beckley this fall, designed to jump-start careers in high-demand fields such as apparel, automotive, aerospace, and outdoor gear manufacturing.
PATTERN’s 192-hour hands-on course will equip participants with real-world sewing skills, and organizers want your help shaping it.
A public survey is open to gather feedback on class structure, training schedules, affordability, and other aspects.
Operations Manager Taylor Carnell says the goal is simple: build strong career pathways while meeting the needs of local industries.
WV Hive’s Judy Moore adds, “This is your chance to have a direct voice in what the program looks like.”
