Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The Historic Fayette Theater is about to open its final production before a major renovation of the theater starts, and this play is bringing the wild west to Southern West Virginia.
Wild, Wild, Wildest West opens Friday night at the Historic Fayette Theater in Fayetteville. The play is a musical comedy set in the 1880’s.
Playgoers can expect slapstick comedy, bluegrass music, and a sheriff trying to outsmart scheming villains.
The show will run for three consecutive weekends through March 29th.
Producer, Millie Petersen, says this play is for people of all ages and all walks of life to come enjoy.
“Expect family fun. This is one of those plays. That little ones can come. Teenagers can come. Adults can come. Grandma, grandpa can come. Everyone should enjoy this.” said Petersen.
For cast member Tim Marcinek, this production is his first. Marcinek recently relocated from Ohio and had never set foot on a stage before this show.
He says the experience preparing has been incredibly enjoyable, and he encourages others to take the same leap as him.
“It’s a nice small role, not too big, so it gave me a good area to work with and I’ve been doing really well with it. Everybody’s been super supportive. It’s been really fun, humbling and a lot of sense is the dancing and singing at the same time harder than you expect,” said Marcinek. “Come on down to the theater, have a little fun and support community theater. Hopefully you can enjoy what’s going on down here. And if you want to be part of it, you know, just get in contact with us and we can help you join a theater like I did.”
Wild, Wild, Wildest West Starts Friday at 7pm.
