WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today is starting on a calmer note, and will continue to stay mostly calm through the day. However, there is a slight chance of isolated showers and storms in the region, so rain gear should still be considered. Any storms or showers today will be quick and light, leaving the region by tonight. We get a brief break from the weather tonight into tomorrow morning, but the next front is positioned to pass through tomorrow evening.
Widespread showers and storms are expected, and some storms will become strong to severe in the region. Damaging winds up to 70 MPH and flooding are the main concerns this weekend, while hail and tornadic activity are less likely. The severe weather threat starts tomorrow afternoon and will linger through the overnight hours as more storms pass through. Due to consistently active weather, any vulnerable or low-lying areas may experience flooding issues. If you encounter flood waters, do not wade or drive through them. Stay weather aware this weekend as the front moves through our region. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast:
The showers and storms will continue on Sunday, though the remaining storms will be weaker than Saturday afternoon and evening since the cold front will have passed through. Widespread rain will last until Sunday night, but the chance for isolated showers remains for Monday and Tuesday. Monday will be the drier of the two days as we are expecting a group of showers to pass through ahead of the next front on Tuesday. Temperatures will remain above average, but they do take a slight hit before recovering on Wednesday.
Speaking of the next front, Wednesday will be host to another round of widespread showers and storms. Severe weather is a possibility once again due to high temperatures ahead of the cold front, but we are too far away to get into mid-week specifics. However, we are certainly going to experience a cooldown after the front passes through. Between Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will drop nearly 20 degrees. This front brings us back to more seasonable temperatures and brings more rain behind it, making for a cooler but still active Thursday next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
