West Virginia (WOAY) The West Virginia Department of Human Services will begin accepting applications for the state’s School Clothing Allowance program on July 20.
The program provides eligible children enrolled in West Virginia schools with a $200 benefit to help purchase school clothing or fabric for families who sew their own clothing.
Applications will be accepted through August 15, or until available funding is exhausted.
Governor Patrick Morrisey says the state has secured the funding needed to offer the program this year after questions surrounding federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funding delayed the announcement.
Benefits will be issued on EBT cards, while foster care payments will be sent by check. Families can apply online through WV PATH, by contacting their local Department of Human Services office, or by calling the state customer service center.
