West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection seeking public comments on Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Report.

The WVDEP responded to the initial request for comment within two days asking if Friday (6/6) would be okay for responses, after that message NewsWatch has followed up multiple times with no response.

West Virginia (WOAY)-The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting public comments on its Draft 2024 Integrated Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment Report.

The document fulfills both state and federal requirements under the Water Pollution Control Act and the Clean Water Act.

The report includes findings from WVDEP’s Probabilistic Monitoring Program, a cost-effective way to evaluate the overall health of the state’s waterways.

It also details specific water bodies that have been monitored and identifies any that are impaired.

You can view the full report, interactive maps, and supporting data online at dep.wv.gov.

A virtual informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 6 p.m. You can join through Google Meet or dial in by phone.

Public comments are being accepted until Monday, September 1, and can be submitted by email or regular mail.
