Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey is joining South Carolina in leading a legal brief supporting the deployment of the National Guard to Washington D.C.
President Trump deployed the National Guard to the nation’s capital in an attempt to stop crime in the city. McCuskey says that the deployment has reduced crime significantly and that President Trump had the authority to bring in the guard.
The Attorney General for the District of Columbia has filed a suit to stop the National Guard. West Virginia was the first state to send troops in response to the president’s request.
A total of 23 states have signed onto the legal brief.
