Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is warning West Virginians to be careful as they enjoy the summer months.
The commission says that alcohol can create dangerous conditions for injury or death while operating watercraft. The Division of Natural Resources will be actively patrolling West Virginia waterways throughout the Summer, with a special focus on the July Fourth weekend.
Fireworks and cooking fires also pose a risk, and you should follow proper fire and firework safety.
Lastly, alcohol can increase dehydration during hot summer days. Combined with the hot days, people can start feeling the effects of the alcohol sooner.
Heat stroke can also be a factor.
