WELCH, WWV (WOAY) – The 2020 Coalfields Heritage Festival has been on schedule to happen throughout the summer.
Welch has been trying to find a way to hold the festival in spite of the pandemic. The recent uptick in COVID-19 numbers throughout the state has thrown some of the planning into flux.
“We are hoping to have this thing. The COVID increase has caused the governor to set back some,” said Welch mayor Harold McBriude. “We’re trying to try to get together and look at this thing and see how we can plan and do accordingly.”
The festival is currently scheduled for September 11-13 in Welch.
