Weekend preview: feeling warm

It has been another great day around the area, continuing the nice weather trend that we’ve seen the last few couple of days. Lows have been in the lower 60s, and today’s highs will be warm, but not as warm as they were last week – we’ll wind up in the middle 80s. Cloud cover is also on a slightly upward trend.
Tonight will be another pleasant night, with lows in the lower 60s again. Unlike previous mornings, the chances for fog tomorrow morning are smaller as drier air is in place.
As the weekend starts, we’ll see more dry air along with the seasonably cool temperatures. By the afternoon, we’ll see temperatures in the middle to upper 80s. While it’s roughly the same level as this morning, it will feel warmer because winds will shift to a more southerly direction, bringing in more humidity. Sunday will see more of the same, with lows in the lower 60s and highs a shade warmer than they will be on Saturday. With the sunshine, we’ll have to be careful outside due to the higher heat indices and the high UV index.
The next chance for showers and storms will be on Monday as another front comes through the region. Rain chances will last for several days and could possibly be enhanced somewhat by a tropical system moving ashore in the Carolinas Sunday morning.
Rain chances will be with us through the entire work week, with increasing chances as the week goes on. For the moment, severe weather is not expected, but some of the storms could have gusty winds attached. Temperatures will remain at or just above normal despite the chance for showers and storms.
