After days with rain chances, skies cleared today and as the weekend goes on, we’ll keep those sunny skies as high pressure takes over the weather and the persistent front that parked itself to our north has broken down and the front that swung through the area is long gone.
The cool front didn’t have much cool air with it. It was cool this morning, but today, we rebounded to near the normal and the result of the high pressure is highs in the middle to upper 80s both weekend days.
The reason for the warm temperatures is that we’ll find ourselves under a dome of high pressure for several days running as it has become the dominant feature in our weather. Highs will be in the 90s through the early part of next week, and Extreme Heat Watches are in effect for Wyoming and McDowell Counties where the heat index is expected to be in the triple digits.
