OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – A front has swung through the region this afternoon, and as a result, temperatures have taken a tumble compared to where they were yesterday.

The rain wasn’t very heavy, and there were definitely not the strong storms that rolled through northern West Virginia last night and early this morning. Overall totals were less than 1″ in all areas.

By the time we wake up tomorrow morning, almost everyone will be below freezing. In response to that, the National Weather Service has issued Freeze Warnings until 10 a.m. tomorrow for Wyoming and McDowell Counties. Why only those counties? There, the planting season has begun, and the freezing temperatures will affect the crops and plants that have been put in the ground.

Tomorrow will be a cold day around the area, with highs only in the mid to upper 40s. At least there will be sunshine in the skies in the wake of the front. Lows tomorrow night will be in similar territory to where they will be tonight.
After the cold start on Sunday morning, temperatures will rebound quickly as the day goes on. High pressure will be located near the Tidewater, and the resulting southwesterly flow for our area will drive the highs into the lower 60s.
