It is warmer this afternoon than it was yesterday at this time, by around 10 degrees in most areas.

Skies are clear but there is some haze and smoke courtesy of the fires that are still raging in the northern Canadian wilderness. The haze could cause some issues for those who are sensitive to the smoke.

With high pressure off the Atlantic coast, skies will stay clear or mostly clear, but it also means the that the smoke will stay with us through the next couple of days. Tonight, lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s and that trend will continue through the entire extended forecast.

Later this week, a front approaching from the northwest brings chances for showers and storms. Some of the storms could contain heavy rain, but for the moment severe weather is not expected. The good news is that flooding is not expected either since we’ve seen so much dry and warm weather recently. Highs with the rainy weather will go down a shade but will still be above the normal – the highs in the 50s that we saw a week or so ago are gone for now.
