West Virginia (WOAY)- Veterans Day events will take place across southern West Virginia to honor those who served.
American Legion Post 8 will host its 106th Veterans Day parade at 10:00 am in downtown Welch.
This year’s theme is Home of the Free because of the brave.
Mercer County will kick off its parade at 11:00 am in Princeton.
Participants will line up down the Mercer Street Historical District at 10:00 am, and the parade will end at the Mercer County Courthouse.
Princeton’s “Those Who Served” museum will also be open to the public.
The museum will feature military artifacts from local veterans and a memorial room honoring fallen soldiers.
In Raleigh County, American Legion Post 32 will kick off the Bekley Veteran’s Day parade at 11:00 am.
The parade lineup will be at Park Middle School between 9:00 and 10:30 am for floats and cars and 10:00 to 10:30 am for bands, walking units, and military vehicles. ‘
The Raleigh County Veterans Museum invites visitors to an open house at its Eisenhower Drive location.
WVU Tech’s culinary students will prepare a free veterans luncheon after the parade at the university’s Culinary Building on 410 Neville Street.
The City of Beckley welcomes veterans groups to set up booths at the Intermodal Gateway from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
School bands will perform at Beckley’s Intermodal Gateway this afternoon from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Fayette County’s parade will be at 11:00 am in Fayetteville, with the lineup beginning at 10:00 am at Fayetteville PK-8 school.
