UPDATE: Inmate at SRJ tests positive for COVID-19 after follow up test; nine other tests are pending

UPDATE (Monday, August 3, 2020, at 9:00 am) BEAVER, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia DHHR has now confirmed that an inmate at the Southern Regional Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

The inmate was retested because of a potential false-positive.  Once retested, it was confirmed that the inmate had COVID-19. Nine people have been tested, and their results are still pending.  108 people are being quarantined.

BEAVER, WV (WOAY) – An inmate at Southern Regional Jail tests positive for COVID-19.

The West Virginia DHHR says one inmate has tested positive but notes that it could be a false positive. The inmate will be retested to confirm the positive test result.

Currently, 128 people are being quarantined. 649 inmates have tested negative.
