Nicholas County, WV (WOAY)- Operations continue in the search and rescue mission for the missing miner at the Rolling Thunder Mine in Nicholas County.
Governor Patrick Morrisey reports that crews are now pumping water at a rate of approximately 6,000 gallons per minute.
This is a significant increase from previous efforts with the availability of additional pumps.
As water levels decrease, crews are advancing on the drilling portion of the rescue in preparation for additional heavy equipment to arrive.
Local, state, and federal agencies continue to work alongside company safety teams around the clock.
Governor Patrick Morrisey announced yesterday that he is coordinating with the United States military to bring in more equipment, and says the state will use every tool in its arsenal in the search.
He also asks all West Virginians to keep the missing miner, his family, and the rescue team in their thoughts and prayers.
