WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Over the next couple of days, clouds will fluctuate in and out and temperatures will stay more seasonable across the region. This will be the perfect time to prepare for this weekend’s storm. Supplies such as food, water, first-aid, batteries, and other essentials should be stocked up just in case. It is better to be prepared for the storm and it underperform than it is to not be prepared and it overperform. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has details on this weekend storm and more:
This weekend will see a range of impacts from heavy snow to potential icing issues in our southern coal fields. First, snow will fall from Saturday afternoon through the overnight hours. Heavy snow accumulation is expected, but it is still too early for an official snow forecast. The highest amounts are likely to fall in the Greenbrier Valley and mountains of Nicholas, Pocahontas, and Greenbrier counties.
The switch from snow to sleet and ice is possible as soon as Sunday morning. For now, most of the region will have a possibility of ice and sleet along with the snow. The southern coalfields are likely to get the worst of the ice coming up, which could be from a quarter to more than a half of an inch in some spots. This could cause power outages in the southern coalfields and potentially other areas. Snow returns to the forecast on Monday as the backend of the system moves through. Here’s a look at the projected impacts:

After the snow moves through, conditions will stay very cold next week. While skies will be sunny, temperatures will be dropping into the teens and even single digits at night. Make sure to have cabinets open and faucets dripping to prevent frozen pipes. Know where your water main shutoff is in case of a freeze. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
