Two West Virginia legal firms team up to pursue lawsuits against ultra processed food manufacturers amid a significant rise of type 2 diabetes

West Virginia (WOAY)-Two West Virginia law firms are taking a stand against the manufacturers of ultra-processed foods.

Foods, they say, are contributing to a growing health crisis among children in the mountain state.  

Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee, & Deitzler, along with Powell & Majestro, have filed lawsuits targeting companies believed to be fueling rising cases of type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. 

These conditions are increasingly prevalent in kids and teens, and the legal teams are asking for families to come forward.  

They’re especially seeking individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis before the age of 18, and who are currently under 30.  

Parents and grandparents of affected individuals are also urged to share their stories.

With the lawsuit, these firms aim to highlight the long-term effects of processed foods and push for accountability from major manufacturers.
