Travel budget 101: How to spend less while having fun on vacation

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- Since it’s the summer, many of us like to take the time to go on a nice trip with friends or family. We have some tips to help you make the most out of your travel budget.

First, try seeing where you can save on flights; flying can easily be the biggest expense of your trip. Also, it’s important to think of quality over quantity. If this is your dream destination, try seeing if a shorter time there will help the budget.

Another way to save money is to buy snacks and use a water bottle throughout the day so you aren’t eating out as much. When visiting attractions, see which ones are free. There’s plenty of free stuff to do when travelling.

Another trick if you’re travelling internationally, which is my personal go-to, is to use local currency. You can do this by either taking money out at an atm, or when using your card to purchase, you’ll be prompted on whether to use their currency or U.S. currency. Make sure to click their currency, you’re bank can do the conversion, just make sure your card can be used internationally first.

Overall, the biggest tip when working with a budget when travelling is to just watch your spending.
