Tractor Supply host the Dogmas Angel Tree for the Fayette County Humane Society

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- Angel trees are a great thing to help out children and families in the community, but there’s more than just people that need the help. The Tractor Supply in Oak Hill has a unique one that benefits the Fayette County Humane Society.

Year round they are one of the various drop-off locations for the shelter, but many don’t realize that, so the shelter came up with the idea to start the dogmas tree this year.

“We wanted to get something that really get someone’s attention to donate. Yes, we have bin there, but a lot of people sometimes don’t see it or don’t know it’s there,” explained Fallyn Wakefield, Executive director for the Fayette County Humane Society. “So, the Christmas tree idea was something to get somebody’s attention and see it and hopefully donate.”

And boy did it gain attention from the public as people from three to four different counties have come by to donate. You also can bring items in to drop off.

Tractor Supply delivered about two tons of dog food on Thursday, the 21st, from all the donations that were made. If you get a chance to look at the tree, each tag is an adoptable dog at the shelter.

The general manager of the Oak Hill Tractor Supply shares his appreciation for the community.

“I’m proud and surprised with the joy this community of all southern West Virginia, several counties. It’s been a delightful surprise, the way everybody has pitched in and came in here over the past two days,” expressed Frank Kious, General manager of Oak Hill’s Tractor Supply. “I’ve had people from Daniel, I’ve had people from Cowen, I’ve had people from Kanawha County. And it just warms my heart to know that everyone cared that much.”

Just after Christmas, Dogmas will be over, but you still have many ways to donate. Drop off locations go as follows:

They also have ways to donate online, just head over to their Facebook for more information.
