Tips on hitting the slopes for MLK weekend

FLATTOP, WV (WOAY)- As we cruise through Martin Luther King Jr weekend, the ski slopes are seeing more traffic than usual. So if you’re thinking of getting on the snow this year, here’s a few tips to maximize your experience.

Guests are invited to get their lift tickets ahead of time either the day before you go or before the lifts start running. This year winterplace is opening its ticket and rental building at 7 am for the weekend to help ease the congestion of guests trying to secure a lift ticket.

Winterplace also reminds guests that there is a common trend of people stopping to eat lunch at noon in the main lodge. To avoid that, guests are encouraged to eat before or after noon and if the main lodge is busy, to stop by the mountain house, the same menu, but typically half the line.

“Then for the overflow. We also have four food trucks here as well, so we’re really trying to service people, get them fed, get them back to the snow just so they can enjoy, you know, maximize their time on the slopes, because that’s what we’re here to do,”  said Josh Faber, Winterplace general manager.
