OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – After a few sprinkles in the evening, and a few showers later in the night, we start off the weekend with some rain around the region.
The rain is attached to a warm front that has overspread the area, keeping the temperatures up a bit this morning, especially when compared to how it has been the past few mornings. The number and intensity of the rain are not what it was with the last system that passed through last weekend, and it is not going to be as intense as what we’re expecting later tonight. Highs today will be above the normal, generally in the lower 60s.
Later tonight, some of the showers will have thunder attached to them, and some of the storms will be on the strong side in areas to our north, with damaging winds the main threat (in fact, really the only threat).
Sunday, the cold frontal side of this fairly vigorous storm comes through and gives us more rain chances early.
Another thing that we’ll see early in the day… the high temperatures. As the cold air invades the region from the northwest, temperatures will stay steady and, in some cases, actually drop during the day. Highs will be about 10 degrees cooler than expected today. By tonight, we’ll drop to near or just below the freezing mark once again.
Monday will be another cool day around the area, as highs and lows will still be below the normal. The rest of the extended forecast features more fluctuating temperatures and periodic rain chances. For now, it looks like we may get another nice, but cool, Fabulous Football Friday next week too!
