Great Halloween and early week leads to the first rain in a while for our area mid and late-week

Overall, a great football Friday greeted us across southern West Virginia. Dry weather and above average conditions will continue to be prevalent across the area as we head through this upcoming week. There is potential for some brief rain showers affecting some on Monday, but overall chances remain low (20%). While we head through Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the chances of rain look much better and the European model shows that as nearly an inch and a half of rain could be commonplace in pockets. This system does appear to be a big system, and impact more than just us here in southern West Virginia. Flooding is appearing increasingly possible across western North Carolina and the trends of this storm needs to be watched to see how close this heavier rain can get to southern West Virginia. Flooding threat here is not likely as of yet, but be aware to ponding on roadways as some areas could get heavier rain.

As we take a look at the full 7 day forecast, increasing clouds on Halloween will lead to a spooky Halloween night for trick-or-treaters around the area. Clouds will linger with us through the next 7 days, with the chances of rain starting to increase heading from Wednesday night into Thursday.
