CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY)- You don’t need to be in front of Cinderella’s castle to feel the magic of Disney, because Disney says you, the audience are the magic and Disney on ice is encouraging you all to bring that magic here to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center for their shows this weekend.
Disney on Ice has brought it’s show, Mickey’s Search Party for West Virginians to enjoy. This show features the beloved Mickey Mouse and his friends as well as the magical stories of Moana, Coco, Aladdin, Toy Story, Frozen, and more. Ensemble members Kate and Gary explain what you’ll experience if you come to this show.
“The show is super special because not only are we on the ice, but we have a lot of acrobatic elements and a lot of audience interaction. So, it really brings the audience into the show, which is super exciting,” said Kate Gibson, ensemble member, and female line captain. “Not every Disney on Ice show has that. So, we’re really excited to bring Charleston into our show with us and showcase, you know, what we have going on in the air, too.”
They also talked about their favorite numbers in the show for guests to look out for.
“I love our opening number because it starts off the show with a bang. We have hoverboards on ice, which maybe you’ve never seen that before. I sure hadn’t before. Disney on ice. So, it really collabs everything. Together with hoverboards on ice, you have skaters,” explained Gibson. “We also have trampoline acrobats. We’ll be jumping on trampolines, and we also have all your favorite Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, along with two live hosts. So, we really have it all. It’s a great way to open the show.”
“I’m going to say Coco, you got you know, we got all the lights, we got the skeleton running, dancing on the ice. Miguel is there, you know, singing the song. We got the sway polers. We got so many going on,” explained Gary Tsai, ensemble member and male line captain. “Our projections are beautiful in that numbers, very vibrant, colorful, and really just makes the crowd go wild. So, I’m very excited for everyone to see that number specifically.”
For those who question if there’s a stunt double skating for Mickey, Gary and Kate say this.
“Mr. Bossman? Mickey Mouse? No, that’s Mickey himself. Yeah, we taught him how to skate.”
