WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Thursday will be an uneventful one with partly sunny skies and colder temperatures returning. Not much wind will blow today, limiting the drop in wind chills a bit. Still, you should have plenty of layers especially tonight and early tomorrow morning. Friday is the next round of wintry weather, showing up Friday afternoon. A front will be dragged through the northeast by a low-pressure system in Canada, dropping snow in the region. Snowfall will be wetter than previous events, causing slushy conditions for the evening commute. Amounts will be lowest in the Greenbrier Valley and highest in the high country. The snowfall forecast as of 8 AM Thursday is above. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full details:
The snowfall will last overnight into Saturday morning, further disrupting travel plans in the morning. Being wetter, this snowfall will be a bit harder to shovel due to its weight. Make sure to shovel carefully and take a break if needed. The lingering ice will also be slippery, so be careful on untreated surfaces. Snow will finally leave in the afternoon as high pressure pushes precipitation to the east.
Saturday night into Sunday morning will be frigid, but temperatures will improve substantially from that point on. Monday will finally be a seasonable day, and temperatures will reach beyond 50 degrees by Tuesday. These temperatures and dry conditions to begin the week will not only feel great, but will help with melting snow and ice. Rain will start sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as the next system comes in. Melting ice and snow can add on to water amounts, so we are keeping an eye on the middle of next week for potential water issues. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
