Oak Hill, WV (CNN)- Wireless provider T-Mobile is taking over most of U.S. Cellular in a deal worth nearly $4.5 billion.
T-Mobile announced the four-point-four billion-dollar deal on Tuesday.
The package includes cash and assumes up to $2 billion of debt.
T-Mobile will acquire U.S. Cellular stores, customers, and about 30 percent of its wireless spectrum.
T-Mobile said it plans to improve coverage in rural areas and for U.S. Cellular customers nationwide.
U.S. Cellular customers can keep their current plans or switch to a T-Mobile plan.
The companies expect the deal to close in mid-2025.
