Suspect in custody following shooting in Nicholas County

Craigsville, WV (WOAY)- A shooting in Craigsville left one man injured and another behind bars.

Deputies say the incident occurred early Saturday morning at a home on Fourth Street. Investigators report that 62-year-old Kenneth Allen Butler got into a physical altercation with Steven Michael Davis.

During the fight, a handgun was brought out, and Butler allegedly fired multiple times, hitting 24-year-old Simeon M. Spencer in the lower leg. 

Spencer was first taken to Summersville Regional Hospital, then later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for further treatment.  

Deputy Hinkle arrested Butler on charges of malicious wounding and wanton endangerment.

He’s being held at Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods on a $60,000 bond as the investigation continues.
