WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Mostly sunny conditions will last through the entire day as high-pressure lingers in our region. Morning temperatures are a few degrees warmer than yesterday, returning to the milder feel that is expected for early June. This afternoon, temperatures will peak in the low to mid-80s. It will be a great day to be outside, but make sure to stay hydrated and protect yourself from excessive sun exposure.
The wonderful weather will last through Saturday as high pressure slowly slips away from the viewing area. While the high-pressure center is moving away, it will have enough influence to keep us dry through the day. The next round of showers and storms will begin Saturday evening, but will stay far enough north for us to avoid storms. If you are heading towards Wheeling or neighboring Ohio and Pennsylvania, severe weather is likely to develop in those areas. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
The front that brings our next round of rain will start to push into the region early Sunday morning. The early timing of these showers and storms will limit severe weather potential, but a couple of stronger storms are still possible depending on how broken up these showers are. The most likely scenario is severe weather starting in the northern half of the state tomorrow evening, weakening as it moves into our area overnight and Sunday morning.
The rain will be helpful to our region, but it will not wash out the drought in one go. Rainfall on Sunday will be lighter aside from the stronger thunderstorms that develop. Showers will be spotty, resulting in some areas receiving more rain than others. It may dampen some outdoor plans, but it is much needed across our region. If thunder roars, stay indoors.

On Monday, a high-pressure center will park over the northeastern coast. This will stall the front that is trying to push through our area and to the east. Since the front will be sticking around for a bit, rain chances will come and go for the majority of next week. While rainfall is trending to be as widespread as the last wet streak, it will bolster drought recovery across the region. You will want a lighter rain jacket through the week, especially if you are working outside. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
