Structure fire reported in downtown Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Firefighters respond to a house fire in downtown Fayetteville.

According to Fayetteville Fire Department Captain Matt Jeffries, the call was received around 8:12 A.M. about a house fire on the 200 block of North Court Street, and first responders were instructed there may have been people trapped inside.

The Fayetteville, Oak Hill, Ansted and Nuttall Fire Departments responded. Upon arriving, they saw the two residents, a mother and her son, as well as their family pets, had escaped the home safely.

“We arrived on scene and all the residents were out of the house, but we had a pretty heavy fire,” Jeffries said. “The lady in the house was alerted by her smoke detectors.”

No injuries were reported.
