Storms and showers develop this afternoon, scattering across the region. Storms are trending to stay sub-severe, but a storm or two may bring gusty winds. The main concern for today is the potential for localized flooding. Any issues would be minor, but the risk is there. Activity will peak later this afternoon before fading as football games start across the viewing area. Most games should start on time, but a storm or two could cause a lightning delay.
Weekend conditions stay wet, but there is some good news for Saturday. The morning is trending to stay dry, and any showers or storms that form will be light and brief in the afternoon. An umbrella or rain jacket will come in handy for some, but some of the region stays dry through the day. Temperatures remain on the warmer side as well, continuing the warm trend we have kept this month.
Rain chances increase on Sunday as the next cold front passes through the region. This front will bring scattered storms that may drop heavy rain once again. As a result, localized flooding issues will return to the forefront of our forecasting concerns. Activity will last throughout the day, peaking in the afternoon and evening hours as the front moves through. Rain gear is recommended if you head outside, and outdoor plans may need an indoor backup plan. Most systems typically continue moving to the east, but this one has other plans.
The cold front that passes through on Sunday will become stationary just to the south. The lack of movement will influence our weather for the next few days. Widespread rain is expected Monday and Tuesday of next week, lasting from morning to night. Heavy rain is in play, continuing the risk of localized flooding. Some areas may receive 2 inches of rain, which would certainly impact the region. The front will begin moving again on Wednesday, allowing rain chances to fall gradually.
