Rain is beginning to move into most of our counties this evening and is expected to stick around for several hours, continuing into the weekend. We’re closely monitoring the potential for a few strong thunderstorms and flash flooding tonight and early tomorrow morning.
Temperatures will remain warm, holding steady in the 70s and 80s throughout the week. At this point, we are very confident that nearly every community in southern West Virginia will see rainfall within the next two days.
Stormy conditions have already impacted parts of the region this afternoon, and more rounds of rain and storms are likely overnight into early Saturday. A line of potentially strong thunderstorms is forecast to move through Saturday morning, bringing the chance for gusty winds and heavy rain capable of flash flooding.
It will be important for everyone to stay weather-aware as we move into this active storm pattern. While there will be dry periods at times, expect off-and-on storms through the weekend, which could disrupt outdoor events or travel plans.
Looking ahead, rain chances will continue into Tuesday of next week, so keep the rain gear handy and check back often for updates. We’ll keep you informed with the latest here on WOAY.
