Storms Tonight; Nicer Weekend Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures are starting to recover to more spring-like values, and just in time for the Spring Equinox. Spring will officially start at 10:46 AM this morning, and conditions will be nice. However, cloud cover will increase this afternoon before the next round of showers and storms moves through tonight.

This line of storms is passing through thanks to a low-pressure system moving through the northeastern states. Some of the storms along this line will be on the stronger side, and a few may become severe. Damaging winds are the main concern, though localized flooding and isolated hail are also possible. Tornadic activity is very unlikely at this time. These storms will pass through overnight, dissipating through the early morning hours on Saturday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

After the showers leave Saturday morning, the rest of the day will be beautiful. Temperatures end up in the upper 60s and skies become mostly sunny, bringing plentiful sunshine into our region. These nice conditions will last through most of weekend, and temperatures will reach into the mid-70s by Sunday afternoon. If you have any outdoor plans, it will be a great time to enjoy!

Unfortunately, all good weather comes to an end. A cold front will move through the region late Sunday night into early Monday morning, bringing more showers into the region. Thunderstorm potential will be limited due to this timing, and we are not expected severe weather this time around. The showers will last through Monday morning before dissipating in the early afternoon.

Monday afternoon will usher in a calmer and cooler pattern that will last through the first half of the week. Temperatures will stay in the mid-50s through Wednesday, but no rain is expected to fall through the middle of the week. However, a warm front will pass through on Thursday, bringing temperatures back to the 70-degree mark. This front does not have rain associated with it, but the cold front behind it may bring rain on Friday to end our next week. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
