WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The heat wave will be on its last legs today and tomorrow as high pressure weakens. This weakening also brings the chance of thunderstorms across the region, starting today with some isolated thunderstorms in the late afternoon to evening hours. These isolated storms may also be strong with some gusty winds if and when they develop. The severe weather outlook for today is shown above. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Before discussing the rest of the forecast, today and tomorrow still carry the risk for dangerous heat indices due to the heat and humidity across the region. While our area will be outside the “extreme” heat risk, much of western West Virginia and other states from Indiana to Maryland will see continued heat issues. With this in mind, make sure you listen to your body and take breaks when outside for an extended period. Here’s the Heat Risk Outlook for Wednesday:

The chances for storms will increase tomorrow before we start an active weather pattern on Friday. A few disturbances will be making their way through the region with a cold front passing to our north on Saturday and another cold front directly passing through the area on Tuesday. Storms throughout this active period will have isolated severe potential with damaging winds and small hail. After the first front passes on Saturday, Sunday will see a decrease in rain chance, though scattered storms are still likely. The chances pick up on Monday before the second front passes on Tuesday. Thankfully, Wednesday of next week is trending to stay dry, which is just outside of our extended forecast. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
