State workers get Good Friday schedule change

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – State workers will end the workday early on Good Friday.

Governor Patrick Morrisey issued a proclamation announcing that state employees in West Virginia will be excused for the second half of their workday on Friday, April 18, to observe Good Friday.

“Good Friday is a day of reflection and prayer, and I am encouraging West Virginians to take time to be with their family and church community,” said Governor Morrisey.

The Governor’s proclamation only applies to public employees of the state of West Virginia.  Private businesses, local governments, and other individuals not employed by the state are not covered under the proclamation. If you are a state employee and your job is necessary to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of West Virginia’s citizenry; you are excluded from the proclamation.
