Beckley, WV (WOAY) The St. Paul Baptist Temple in Beckley is celebrating Juneteenth with a Parking Lot Extravaganza.
The free event starts at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. in the church parking lot at 129 F Street.
Organizers say the celebration is for the whole community, featuring vendors and live music.
The Juneteenth holiday commemorates the freeing of enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865.
It was declared a state holiday in Texas in 1979 and signed into law as a federal holiday in 2021.
Organizers hope to share the importance of the event with the community.
