It is a nice afternoon around southern West Virginia, with plenty of sunshine and a few clouds mixed in. Temperatures are a degree or two warmer than they were at this time yesterday, but are still a good bit cooler than the normal.
The big story tonight will be a very small chance for some very light rain. A weak front is pushing into the state this evening, and a few showers are showing up on the radar in northern West Virginia as well as parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
However, with humidity levels in the 40 and 50% range, it will be hard for any showers that we see to hit the ground.
Any raindrops that do find their way to the ground won’t amount to much, and any showers that make their way into the region will end by early tomorrow morning. Lows tonight will drop into the lower 50s. Like the highs today, that will be a few degrees above where they have been. The unofficial low in Beckley today was 46 degrees.
Tomorrow, we’ll see another mix of sun and clouds, and the warming trend will continue, with highs in the mid-70s.
Once there, highs will stay in that neighborhood through the rest of the extended forecast. Lows will also be steady state, and will be in the lower to middle 50s across the board. The one thing that does change is the chance for rain on Sunday. There could be an isolated shower or storm in the southern coalfields and Greenbrier Valley with some upsloping as winds are out of the northeast. The bulk of the showers will be in the areas off to our south, however.
A more widespread and better chance for showers and storms will be in the forecast towards the middle of next week as a much more moisture-laden front pushes into the region.
