Snowy Morning Commute; Cloudy Conditions this Weekend

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Light snow will continue through the morning as schools across the region have closed for the day. Anyone who needs to travel should be careful, especially on secondary roads. Conditions will improve as more roads are treated through the day, but slick spots will remain for the rest of the day and overnight. This snow is pretty versatile, meaning most activities can be done for those looking to build snowmen or create snow angels. A Winter Weather Advisory will remain in effect for Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, Tazewell, and Wyoming counties until 10 AM this morning. The weather service has shrunk this advisory’s time recently as the system moves out early this afternoon. Meteorologist Christian Boteler jumps into the snow pile:

As the snowfall fade, the weekend will deal us a better hand. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and slightly warmer than we have been, reaching 40 degrees for the first time in a while. Sunday will be mostly the same until the next rainy system moves through in the evening. Rain starts it off before it changes to a wintery mix overnight with some higher elevations getting purely snow. The system leaves by Monday morning, leaving us with a slippery morning commute but a better day ahead.

The work week starts off calmly after the morning commute with partly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures dip for Monday but make a rebound on Tuesday, making it the better day for the region. Wednesday will be nice through the day before the next round of rain moves through late at night and into Thursday morning. Rain will change to snow overnight once again as well. You’ll want to have the winter gear ready to go over the next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
