Significant Snow and Sleet Tonight; More Back End Snow Tomorrow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The snow has already started in the area, with sleet coming in the evening. The snow has already covered secondary roads and sidewalks, with many highways also affected by the snowfall. There are also visibility issues across the region with the snow being tossed around by the winds. The Winter Storm Warning in our area will last until Tuesday morning.

TONIGHT: Snow turns to sleet, icing much of the area. Traveling is not recommended across the area, and power outages are expected across the area. If your power does go out, make sure you have water, food, and blankets available. Radios and flashlights are also useful in these circumstances.

TOMORROW: We’ll have sleet, rain, then snow in a short time. This will add additional ice to the roads and power lines, furthering impacts. Snowfall on Monday could be anywhere from an inch to 5″ as the back end of the storm comes through.

Driving will be risky, so please avoid travel unless necessary. If you do travel, maintain a large distance from other cars in front of you, keep it slow, and be aware of your surroundings. Your safety is paramount in this storm.

LONG TERM: Snow will linger Tuesday into Wednesday before clearing away Thursday. We have another snow chance on Friday and Saturday, potentially covering the area again before a mostly sunny day on Sunday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
