WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): A few lingering showers passed through the region this morning, but most of the action has since left the region. Temperatures are around 10 degrees cooler than yesterday morning, but they will get warmer through the day. By late afternoon, most of the region will be in the mid-60s and sunshine will be plentiful. Skies will remain mostly clear through the night. This will be one of the calmer days over the next week or so thanks to little precipitation and skies become sunnier later today. However, the drought has not recovered yet. The need for rain continues, and the next seven days will feature rain in and out of the forecast. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Friday will be wonderful after a frosty morning, but the rain will be returning Saturday morning. This round of showers will not be widespread or heavy like what we saw on Wednesday, but any rain will help us out at this point. These showers will pass through in the morning and early afternoon before fading out in the evening. An umbrella will be plenty enough to keep you dry during the first half of the weekend.
The morning of Mother’s Day will be calm with temperatures around 50 degrees and partly sunny skies. However, afternoon plans may be dampened by another round of showers making its way into the region. With temperatures reaching the 70s Sunday afternoon, a few thunderstorms are possible within the showers passing through. The rain will continue to fall through the night and into Monday morning before fading away. If you have plans for Mother’s Day, be sure to have a rain jacket or umbrella in the afternoon and evening.

Showers linger through Monday morning before the rain dries up in the afternoon. Rain will remain light through the morning, but you won’t want to forget the umbrella during for your morning commute. After these showers, conditions stay dry for another day or so before the next low-pressure system approaches from the Midwest. Showers approach late Tuesday night before becoming widespread on Wednesday. While we are getting consistent episodes of rain, the rainfall has been too light in most events to have a significant impact on the drought. Still, any rain is better than no rain at this point.
