We are once again tracking some showers around the region this afternoon. None of the showers is especially heavy, but they’ll slow us down a bit as we head out to the evening plans.
Some areas could pick up a tenth of an inch or so, nowhere enough to alleviate the drought that almost all areas are in, but welcome, nonetheless. Areas that see some rain this evening will also see chances for patchy fog. Visibility will be cut down a bit, but not too much, since by that point, dry air will be invading the area.
Lows will be cooler than this morning and will be dependent on the timing of the clearing. The earlier it clears out, the cooler the temperatures will be. I think that we’ll wind up in the lower to middle 50s.
Tomorrow, there could be some clouds early, but the skies will turn increasingly clear as the day goes on. It will be quite a nice afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid-70s, a few degrees warmer than today, thanks to the abundant sunshine. Tomorrow night will be mostly clear and cool, with lows in the middle to upper 40s in many areas and lower to middle 40s in the traditionally colder spots. Some areas will be in the lower 50s.
Once the dry weather is here, it will stay with us for several days running. High pressure will be in control of the weather, leading to mostly sunny days with highs in the lower to middle 70s. Lows will be in the upper 40s through Sunday morning, before rising slightly into the lower 50s through Tuesday morning.
At the end of the extended forecast, the high will push eastward into the Atlantic, and a front will approach from the northwest. That will give us a chance for showers beginning on Tuesday of next week and stretching into the days just beyond the current seven-day forecast.
The trend in the 6 to 10-day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center calls for slightly above normal precipitation and well above normal temperatures. Certainly, the above-normal precipitation would be good news for our moisture-starved area.
