OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It was a little cloudier today than it was yesterday around the region, and that kept temperatures down a bit. Highs today wound up in the lower to mid-60s. As the night goes on, the clouds will thin, and mostly clear skies will take us through the night. Lows will again be in the 40s; how cold they ultimately get will be determined by how quickly it clears out. As of 8 p.m., all of the official reporting stations are clear.

In response, we’ve adjusted the temperatures downward a bit, leaning more towards the lower 40s.

Tomorrow, the skies will be mostly sunny, and with the dry air in place, highs will rebound to around the 70-degree mark by the afternoon.

If we get there in Beckley, it will be the first time since the 16th; a span of nearly two weeks. Tomorrow night will be similar to tonight, with lows in the lower to mid-40s. The rest of the week looks good, including for both the Friday night football games and for the Halloween plans. Friday will be a carbon copy of Thursday, and it will be another mild day, with the average high back up to around 70 degrees. Despite the relative warmth, jackets will still come in handy for the later evening plans, with temperatures falling quickly after sunset. Halloween will feature slightly cooler temperatures with some additional cloud cover (which isn’t bad given that it is Halloween), but no rain.
After nearly two weeks of dry weather, the chance for showers finally returns to the forecast as we turn the calendar over to November. A series of disturbances will push into the region from the west. One change from yesterday: the rain chances look much lower on the two major atmospheric models that we look at. In fact, the European model does not have any rain in our area at all for the next week.

Even the GFS, which does have rain, has less than an inch of total rainfall for the next seven days. Neither model has any rain in the area on Tuesday, but with the area in the vicinity of the front, I’ve kept showers in the forecast. With cloud cover and showers, highs will be a bit cooler, generally in the mid-60s.
