Severe Storms Today; Wonderful Weekend

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today is a tale of two halves starting with partly sunny skies and increasing clouds through the early afternoon. However, storms will start in he mid-afternoon hours and will strengthen in the evening. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Today’s severe weather threat will be in the form of high winds and large hail, especially in out southern counties. Ponding of water may occur in vulnerable areas and rotation is unlikely but not impossible with this system. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts including our StormWatch App and to stay weather aware as the day goes on. Here’s the severe weather outlook for today:

The storms will deteriorate tonight, but showers will linger into the the day tomorrow. These showers will be ending around 4PM tomorrow, leaving us with mostly cloudy skies which will dissipate through the night. Temperatures will also cool down into the 40s overnight and the high temperatures will be in the low 60s. The weekend is looking wonderful as well, especially Mother’s Day. Mostly sunny skies and warming temperatures will result in a great weekend for yard work, sports, and other activities you may have planned. Pollen counts will be high through the weekend though, so make sure to stock up on allergy medicine.

The beginning of next week will see increasing clouds and rain late Monday, which will last all day Tuesday and linger into Wednesday as well. Make sure to keep the rain gear handy. Temperatures will rise back up into the 70s as well, which gives us a chance for isolated storms mainly on Tuesday. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
