After some strong to severe storms this morning around the area, especially in the northern locations, more storms are possible as we go through the evening. We’re still in the “Slight” risk area for severe thunderstorms through tomorrow morning.

The threat for the later hours today is more likely to be a damaging wind threat, but an isolated tornado still can’t be ruled out.

Despite the clouds and the earlier showers and storms, it is still quite warm around the area, with temperatures in the 70s everywhere; even the higher elevation locations are in the upper 60s.

The active weather that we saw this morning will continue for most of the period, especially early on. Rainfall totals will not be high enough to cause widespread flooding but will cause some ponding on the roads and gathering water in low-lying spots. The other major story in the weather later this week and into the weekend will be the warm temperatures. Friday and Saturday will feel more like summer than early April, with highs around the 80-degree mark and humidity with the recent moisture. As the front that is stalling to our north today finally swings through the region, temperatures will fall dramatically. Highs by early next week will only be in the 40s! Both Monday and Wednesday will be in the 50s. All three days will be below the normal, quite a change after the warm weather that we’ll see in the early part of the extended forecast. At least the rain will end!
