WEST VIRGINIA, WV (WOAY) – As back-to-school season approaches and the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on, the debate surrounding whether or not to reopen US schools in the fall is heating up.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito agrees with children returning to in-person learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Capito told WOAY with the proper amount of PPE she believes that in-person learning is the best option.
“I think that we need to get kids back into the classrooms face to face. I think an area of big emphasis should be placed on that. The Governor postponed school for a month. That’s given them some extra time. Let’s go with that plan and see if the blended system or the in-person system what works and how are they able to work out logistics,” said Capito.
Children will return to school on September 8th.
